Who is Takashi Kuge?
Takashi Kuge is a Japanese painter born in Kyoto in 1948. After moving to New York in 1986, he began painting the cats he lived with there, and cats have remained his signature subject ever since. His work, known as "Manhattaners," blends the warmth of everyday life with the energy of New York City, and he has held a solo exhibition in Japan every year since 2001.
