In Japan, we have a saying "鶴は千年、亀は万年" (Cranes live for a thousand years, turtles live for ten thousand years), and they are both the symbols of longevity and good fortune.  Cranes, with their elegant appearance, are believed to live for a thousand years and symbolize longevity and fidelity. Turtles, known for their sturdy shells and slow, steady movement, are thought to live for ten thousand years.  These symbols are often used for celebration such as wedding to wish for the marrige to live long.
